With Big Ten 2009 fall football underway, this season's teams are predicted to change standings based on 2008 college football data. Top-standing 2008 teams Ohio State and Penn State have the most non-returning players entering the fall 2009 season, with 13 and 14 players respectively. These player losses will impact the starting lineups. As a whole, the Big Ten Conference exhibits strength across the conference teams in the 2009 season with 26 all-conference players returning from last season, as well as an additional 22 honorable mention honorees from the 2008 season. The Bleacher Report announced in a recent article by J.A. Allen entitled, "Iowa-Penn State: A Changing of the Guard in the Big Ten," on this season's first big win in which Iowa picked off Penn State. According to the Associated Press Top 25, Iowa boosted its ranking based on this win and moved into 13th place, while Penn State slipped to 15th.
