2008 Florida Gators Football Schedule, Bowl PickGators NCAA Prediction and BCS Projection
The Florida Gators had a solid year last year with such a young team but the season went thud with a disappointing loss to Michigan.
Florida's young secondary got torched in the Capital One Bowl and Urban Meyer was frustrated on the sidelines. The Gators didn't have a run game last year except for Heisman winner Tim Tebow's scrambles and designed power runs. This year, Florida will need a running game. The 2008 Florida Gators football schedule is loaded with quality opponents but at least it's easier than other SEC contenders like Georgia. Here is the 2008 Florida Gators football schedule and predictions: 2008 Florida Gators football scheduleAug. 30 Hawaii- Hawaii is a tricky opening game on the 2008 Florida Gators football schedule, but the Warriors don't have any kind of defense to stop Tebow and new running back Chris Rainey. Gators by 20. Sept. 6 Miami- An in-state game and a hard-fought one is expected. But Miami doesn't have the talent to hang with Florida in a 17-point Gator win for this game. Sept. 13 OPEN DATE Sept. 20 at Tennessee The Vols are a physical team with a good defense. A tough game on the 2008 Florida Gators football schedule for sure. I like Florida in a close one. Sept. 27 Ole Miss The Rebels are getting better but Florida wins by 10 in a sleepwalking-type performance. Oct. 4 at Arkansas Looks like a trap game on the 2008 Florida Gators football schedule but Bobby Petrino has no QB to run his offense. Gators by 14. Oct. 11 LSU Good thing Florida gets the Tigers in The Swamp. But this is going to be one of the hardest games on the 2008 Florida Gators football schedule. I like Florida by 3 in this one due to QB play from Tebow. Oct. 18 OPEN DATE Oct. 25 Kentucky No Andre Woodson equals a 24-point Gator win. Nov. 1 Georgia (Jacksonville) Game of the year? Perhaps. I think Florida has to fall once so I'm picking a Georgia win here by 7 or so. Nov. 8 at Vanderbilt One of the easiest SEC games on the 2008 Florida Gators football schedule and a 21 point Florida win. Nov. 15 South Carolina Can Steve Spurrier upset his former school? Yes, but he probably won't in The Swamp. Florida by 10. Nov. 22 The Citadel Easiest game on the 2008 Florida Gators football schedule and a huge win for Florida, by 30 points or more. Nov. 29 at Florida State Possible trap game on the 2008 Florida Gators football schedule. Florida State's defense helps spring an upset on Florida. Final analysis of the 2008 Florida Gators football scheduleFlorida has the talent to make a BCS Title Game and has to be one of the five favorites. They're an excellent offensive team but the defense is a bit suspect and injuries have hurt them so Florida should make a BCS bowl and lose about two games on the 2008 football schedule. Updated Bowl ProjectionIt likes like these picks were off on the Georgia game. Florida beat the underachieving Bulldogs but struggled and lost to Ole Miss earlier in the year. Florida State is about to take a run at an upset and FSU has the talent to do it, but the Gators should win. As for the bowl projection, I think Florida beats Alabama and sneaks into the BCS title game against Texas for a Florida-Texas title game that should be an epic clash between two power states and power programs. The bowl projections are tough right now because there are so many big games but we'll find out just how much chaos the BCS creates again in the 2008-2009 season very soon.
