As the 2008 college football season winds down, 60 college football teams have become bowl eligible after the recent weekend's games, compared to 68 available bowl slots.
With most teams still to play one or two games, it's probable that more than 70 teams will end up with the .500 or better record required for bowl eligibility, eligible to play in one of the 34 bowl games.
Counting affiliations and BCS bowls, 48 positions are reserved for BCS conference teams. After the weekend's games, 40 BCS conference teams are bowl eligible. If the BCS conferences cannot fill all of their affiliated bowl slots, teams from other conferences can fill the extra slots.
Listed here are the teams that are bowl eligible from each BCS conference, along with the probable bowls affiliated with those conferences. In addition to the bowl affiliations listed here, it appears three more bowl bids among the BCS bowls (Fiesta, Orange, Rose, Sugar, and BCS Championship Game) will go to BCS conference teams. The final BCS bowl bid likely will go to a non-BCS team, either Utah or Boise State.
